Bygga grund - Building the foundation

Det blir en smula långrandigt att prata om planering och beräkningar, val av fönster, taktegel, letande efter olika entreprenörer inom el, VVS etc så vi hoppar fram till Juni månad då grundarbetena påbörjades (klara 14 dagar senare). En kort beskrivning av det ni ser på bilderna är att vi bygger två betongplattor som vi ska ställa byggnaderna på. En för huset och en för det 60 kvm stora garaget. I princip går det till så här: Den bortgrävda jorden ersätts av 195 ton grus, därefter placeras alla avloppsrör ut. Efter utplacering av kantelementen isoleras grunden med 300 mm cellplast. Efter detta dras kallt och varmt vatten till badrum och kök samt golvvärme till badrummen och värmen till radiatorerna. Sist sker armering och gjutning. Vi anlitade ett företag som gjorde grunden + avlopp + armering/gjutning medan vi monterade ledningar för vatten och värme. Pga av den extrema värmen vattnade vi plattan i fyra dagar för att betongen skulle härda saktare och inte spricka.

It's probably boring to read about all the planning and calculations, which kind of windows and roofing tiles we chose, the trouble finding skilled entrepeneurs for electricity, plumming and so on. Therefore, let's jump directly to June when the building of the foundation began (the foundation was completed 14 days later). A short description of what you see in the pictures is as follows: We are building two foundations, one for the house and one for the 60 sqm garage. First the excavator (driver) removes the topsoil and replaces it with 195 tonnes of gravel in order to keep the foundation dry. Then all the in- and outside sewage is done. After this the L-shaped elements are being placed as borders of the foundation. The insulation contains a 300 mm layer of a very light white and thick plastic material (of which I don't know the name in English). Now it's time to mount the hoses for cold and warm water to the bathrooms and kichen aswell as hoses for the floor and radiator heating (this work we did ourselves). Finally the foundation is reinforced and then the concrete is being pumped out with a gigantic truck that pumps from yet another truck containing the concrete. Quite a fascinating procedure I must say. Whithin 2 hours 25 cubic meters of concrete were unloaded from 4 seperate concrete tank trucks. After all this we had to water the foundation for 4 whole days in order to avoid cracks while hardening.
